Most barbeque sauce recipes call for it to be cooked over low, slow heat. By using honey rather than sugar, you don't even need to cook this sauce. Make it at least 4 hours and up to 1 day before you plan to use it so that the flavors have a chance to meld together.

Ingredients

1 cup low-sodium organic ketchup
1/4 cup buckwheat honey
2 tablespoons Asheville Bee Charmer's Smokin' Hot Honey (chipotle-infused honey)
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon freshly squeezed orange juice
1/2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons sambal oelek
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the Buckwheat Honey and Smokin Hot Honey with all the other ingredients in a small bowl.
  2. Transfer the sauce to an airtight container and store it in the refrigerator for up to 1 month.
